Moi International Airport (MIA) in Mombasa has been named the best airport in Africa by size and region under two million passengers per year in 2022.

The Airports Council International (ACI), the global airport industry’s voice, recognized Moi International Airport in Mombasa for providing exceptional customer service.

While congratulating MIA on the achievement, ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, said the Award was based on ACI’s renowned Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, which captures passengers’ experiences at all airport passenger contact points at more than 300 airports worldwide.

“The recognition of MIA’s excellence in customer service comes after a difficult period for the aviation industry, highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic,” Oliveira said.

Despite the difficulties, he said, the airport has continued to prioritize customer experience and demonstrate its competency.

“I congratulate the entire Moi International Airport team on their success at the Airport Service Quality Awards,” Oliveira said.

The airport community, which includes airport employees and a variety of other stakeholders, selected the awards, according to the Director General.
