An outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker bemoaned that President William Ruto no longer accepts donations or returns phone calls as he did during the campaign.
Titus Khamala, a Lurambi MP, said in a statement on Sunday that it couldn’t be true that Ruto had paid him to skip the Second Reading of the Finance Bill 2023 since he was no longer giving money around like he had done during his presidential campaigns.
The president, according to Khamala, was no longer returning calls, making it tougher to get in touch with him.
“Even though we are friends, things have changed. You never pick up when I call your phone. I wasn’t accustomed to that. They stated you paid me to skip Parliament on the day the bill was up for a vote, but I had a ceremony,” Khamala said.
“How is it that they claim you handed me money when we haven’t even met? He said, leaving the congregation in laughter, “Even when I come to see you, my name is no longer there.
Khamala, who is also a bishop, claimed that when he and former MP Benjamin Washiali recently visited Ruto, they were given nothing, which made them realize that circumstances had changed.
