1. NSSF Employed Member
You can join the NSSF as an Employed Member, which means your company will take your contributions from your pay and supplement it with an equal amount. For information on how to become an Employed NSSF Member, click the icon below.
Requirements
- A copy of your National Identity Card (ID Card), Alien Card, or Passport, as well as the original.
- a letter from your employer introducing you (view sample)
NSSF Will take down your information and register you. After that, you will be given an NSSF membership card. To be able to make contributions to your account, your employer will need the NSSF Number on your card.

2. NSSF Member (Voluntary) (Self-Employed)
You can join as a Self Employed (Voluntary) Member as well. You will be able to make contributions to your NSSF account at any time by visiting your nearest NSSF branch or simply by using MPESA. For information on how to become a Voluntary NSSF Member, please click the icon below.
Requirements
- A copy of your National Identity Card (ID Card), Alien Card, or Passport, as well as the original.
- To activate your card, you must first pay a minimum of Ksh 200 as an initial deposit.
