Asamoah Gyan, a former Ghanaian footballer, has been ordered to pay compensation to his ex-wife after it was revealed that he is the biological father of their three children.

For three years, the former Ghana captain and his ex-wife, Gifty, have been entangled in a legal battle involving allegations of infidelity and paternity questions.

Later, the 37-year-old was obliged to take a DNA test, which confirmed his paternity.

Gyan was ordered by an Accra court to give his ex-wife a house in the United Kingdom, another house in Accra, a petrol station, and two automobiles.

The former Sunderland, Udinese, and Rennes forward was also ordered to pay 25,000 Ghanaian cedis (Ā£1,729) every month for the children.

According to reports, the court determined that Gifty made a non-cash contribution to the acquisition of the residences because she was the sole caregiver for the children while Gyan pursued his football career.

Prior to their 2013 marriage, she had purchased a four-bedroom property in Accra.

Their marriage was canceled when the ex-Sunderland player filed a petition.

Gyan announced his retirement from football in June after scoring 51 goals in 109 outings for Ghana.
