A 22-year-old pregnant model was shot last week as she was in a car in Washington, DC, by two men with assault guns, but luckily gave birth through C-section before she passed away from her wounds.
Eight-month-pregnant Samya Gill and the father of her unborn child were sitting in a parked car on the street when the gunmen arrived in another car at around 11:20 a.m. on June 15 and started fire on them, according to the police.
After being hit by gunfire, her boyfriend took off and stopped the car at Minnesota Avenue and Dix Street, a busy crossroads about a mile away.
Gill from Maryland was sent to a local hospital after being injured and gave birth there before passing away.
The infant’s condition was categorized as critical.
The second victim, an adult male, is receiving non-life threatening treatment, according to authorities.
The suspects, one of whom is dressed in a white jacket and sweatshirt and the other in dark clothing, are seen shooting as they race toward the victims’ car in surveillance camera photographs provided by the police.
The police statement included a photo of the white four-door vehicle driven by the shooters.
Police stated that the shooting was a targeted strike but added that they were unsure of the reason behind it.
“This is a bold deed. According to Assistant Chief of Patrol Andre Wright, it occurred in the middle of the day.
One of seven children, Gill was a model and managed an online clothing business, but recently she had been spending all of her time getting ready for the arrival of her child, according to Gill’s mother, who did not want to be recognized.
She revealed to WJLA that her granddaughter was born through C-section following the heinous assault.
She is stunning. The mourning woman told WJLA, “I went to go see her last night and she’s just wonderful. I merely hope that whoever hurt my daughter is apprehended.
According to a GoFundMe website, the mother stated she would raise the baby if it lived. The infant’s name is Zailey.
“My family is suffering greatly from this, and it is a significant financial strain. If you could all donate anything, it would be very appreciated. No donation is too big or too small, the fundraiser declared.
The Washington Post reports that Gill’s murder was one of four that occurred in Washington, DC, last week.
According to the site, last year marked the city’s second year with more than 200 murders.
Up to $25,000 is being offered as a reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the attack’s suspects.
