Kenyans cry as GACHAGUA buy a fleet of brand new luxury vehicles

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stunned Kenyans by ordering the acquisition of a fleet of high-end automobiles for himself at a time when the majority of Kenyans are struggling with the high cost of living, which has been compounded by rising gasoline prices.

Gachagua published a tender through his office, encouraging automobile dealers to submit proposals for the delivery of a fleet of motor vehicles.

The office outlined three conditions for what it wants in a notice published on Tuesday, namely utility passenger vehicles with a diesel capacity ranging from 2,700 to 3,000 cc. They should all be heavy-duty.

The office is also looking for an executive microbus with a Diesel engine that can seat nine people.

Each vehicle has a bid bond of Ksh300,000 in place. The bond ensures that the winning bidder will fulfill the contract’s criteria once it is awarded.

The bidding announcement came after the office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua got Ksh290.8 million for the procurement of new vehicles in the fiscal year 2022/2023.

This marked a Ksh200 million increase over the previous fiscal year’s allocation of Ksh90.8 million.

The entire amount allotted for the procurement of new vehicles for the President’s Office, the Deputy President’s Office, and the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s Office in the current fiscal year has increased to Ksh2 billion from Ksh810.3 million the previous year.

Interested and eligible candidates are encouraged to acquire additional information and check the tender documents at the Supply Chain Management services office, 5th floor, Teleposta Towers, Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi, during normal business hours, except on weekends and public holidays.

The tender documents are available for free download from the State Department for Devolution website and the public procurement information portal
