Pepe, a former Real Madrid defender, scored a stoppage-time goal in Porto’s 2-0 victory over Antwerp to become the oldest Champions League scorer in history.

He is the first player in the competition over 40 to score a goal.

He scored more than 20 years after his debut goal for Maritimo on November 9, 2002, at the age of 40 years and 254 days.

After their 1-0 victory over Barcelona, his goal ensured a vital victory that left Porto second in their Champions League group and three points ahead of third-place Shakhtar Donestk.

Pepe made history as the oldest outfield player in Champions League history on matchday three, helping his team to a 4-1 victory. Now, his goal has contributed to their elimination.

He joined Porto in May 2004, shortly before the team won the league, cup, and Champions League under Jose Mourinho. However, he was not part of the team that played against Monaco in the European final.

He also relished stints playing for Besiktas and Real Madrid.

He won two Copa de Reys, two Supercopas, two FIFA Club World Cups, three La Liga titles, two Champions League titles, two FIFA Club World Cups, and a UEFA Super Cup with Madrid.

He has made 134 appearances for Portugal on the international scene, winning the 2018/19 Nations League and the 2016 European Championship with them.

Pepe is considered to be one of the most dependable defenders, having made 714 games and won 28 titles during his career.
