A Democrat who was outed for filming sex acts for tips on the internet lost by a close margin to her Republican opponent in the commonwealth’s House of Delegates election in Virginia, U.S. She claimed that her opponent had leaked information about her sexy side project.

On Tuesday, November, businessman David Owen defeated 40-year-old nurse practitioner Susanna Gibson, while the margin of victory was less than 1,000 votes.

In one of the most closely followed contests in the commonwealth, Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin attempted to hold onto the House of Delegates and change the state senate’s leadership in order to pass a law prohibiting abortions beyond 15 weeks.

When it was discovered that Gibson and her husband had hosted over a dozen live sex acts on the adult streaming platform Chaturbate, Gibson shot to fame in September.

After she announced her candidacy, the tapes were uploaded to a publicly viewable archive on the website Recurbate in September 2022, as first reported by the Washington Post.

According to a screenshot acquired by The Post, Gibson continued to maintain her Chaturbate page even after announcing her campaign in July 2022 and posting at least one photo of herself there the same month.

With over 5,770 Chaturbate followers, the unusual candidate persuaded them to perform specific activities in “private” shows in exchange for extra “tokens,” claiming that she was “raising money for a good cause.”

“An illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me,” she described the controversy as.

“My opponents in politics and their Republican allies have demonstrated that they are prepared to perpetrate a sexual offense against me and my family, as they are willing to go to any lengths to silence women who speak out,” Gibson said in a statement to CNN.

“My opponent and his allies are resorting to the worst gutter politics because they know that the people in this district support our positions on the issues,” she continued.

“This election has too much riding on it, and I won’t give up on our community.”

Following the revelation of the sextape, Gibson’s fundraising figures skyrocketed, but her popularity among voters fell. According to a Cygnal poll, she was behind Owen by 49.5% to 38.9%.
