The deputy president, William Ruto, has come under fire from Kitui County Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu for saying that President Uhuru Kenyatta is to blame for the high cost of living in the nation.
Kenya’s cost of living has risen to intolerable levels over the past year as the cost of fuel and other necessities skyrockets.
In a speech on Wednesday, Ruto laid the blame at the feet of President Uhuru Kenyatta, claiming that his administration should protect Kenyans by providing subsidies and rebates to lower the cost of living.
But Ngilu on Friday mocked the DP, accusing him of taking credit when the government is doing well but sidelining it when it is performing negatively.
“In Jubilee Govt, si @WilliamsRutoakiwa peke yake alijenga mashule? Akaunganisha stima? Akajenga TTC? Akaleta SGR? Akajenga mabarabara? Halafu Uhuru Kenyatta akiwa peke yake, akapandisha bei ya vyakula? Akapandisha bei ya mafuta? Akaongeza deni ya Chaina? The level of buffoonery!,”Ngilu wrote on her Twitter page.
