Sithembiso Wiseman Mlambo, a South African man, has been arrested in South Africa for the murder of his 39-year-old wife, Sithembile Joyce Mlambo.

Police in KwaZulu-Natal said the Mlambo, 49, was stopped on his way to Ladysmith.

Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, a KZN police spokeswoman, said the accused was apprehended on the N11 at the Collings Pass turn-off on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

The arrest comes just hours after police confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for the Osizweni resident.

According to Gwala, Sithembile Joyce Mlambo was returning home from work on May 29, 2023 when she was confronted by her husband.

Mlambo was driving her car in the Mndozo area when the culprit opened fire on her, according to Gwala.

The man, who was still wearing his uniform, was pronounced dead at the spot.

On Friday, October 13, he is scheduled to appear in court.

Meanwhile, officers Minister Bheki Cele stated that as part of Operation Shanela, officers were hard at work tracing suspects, particularly those wanted for gender-based violence and femicide-related offenses.

Cele stated that police were performing routine roadblocks, stop-and-frisks, and locating wanted criminals.
