Around 1,500 Hamas fighters’ bodies have been discovered in Israel near the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army stated this on Tuesday, Oct. 10, as it launched air strikes against the Palestinian enclave.

“Approximately 1,500 bodies of Hamas (fighters) were found in Israel around the Gaza Strip,” said military spokesman Richard Hecht, adding that security forces had “more or less restored control over the border” with Gaza.

“Since last night we know that no one came in .. but infiltrations can still happen.”

He claimed that the army had “nearly completed” the evacuation of all towns along the border.

Hecht stated that the military has sent 35 battalions to the border area.

“We are building infrastructure for future operations,” he went on to say.

Israel is suffering from a horrific attack by Hamas militants who breached the border fence on Saturday morning, Oct. 7, and killed over 900 people inside Israel.

In response, Israel has launched a major air and artillery bombardment on Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 687 people so far.

The Israeli military bombed what it said were Hamas targets in Gaza early Tuesday, particularly in the Rimal neighborhood and the southern city of Khan Yunis.
