Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is now in exile in Britain, according to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua called Matiang’i a coward for fleeing the nation as he opened the Eldoret Agricultural Fair on Friday.

Gachagua, on the other hand, supported President William Ruto’s administration, claiming it had no plans to prosecute past state executives who wielded undue power, such as Matiangi.

“Some people are cowards because they would not be fleeing the nation if they were bold. They used to bother us over those five years, but they assumed we were going to harass them.

“He is even afraid of his own shadow since he used to terrorize individuals who did not agree with the government, and now he worries we would utilize police in the same way they did to harass their political opponents,” Gachagua added.

Matiangi fled the nation on February 19th, using a KLM cargo plane to do so.

He landed in the Netherlands and flew to the United Kingdom, where he requested political asylum.
