Details about Raila Odinga’s lack of a degree have come to light as Kenyans continue to struggle with the IEBC’s rule that candidates for the presidency and governorship in the August polls need a university degree.

Last month, Miguna Miguna, a former counselor to Raila Odinga who has since turned hostile, questioned the academic credentials of his former employer.

The notorious attorney even challenged the IEBC to release the actual Raila Odinga university diploma before acquitting him.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, Veronica Maina, the secretary-general of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, pressed Raila Odinga to provide the name of the college from which he received his degree.

The validity of presidential contenders’ credentials has also come under scrutiny. Through UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina, Ruto addressed the issue of Raila Amolo Odinga, his main rival, attending the university in question.

In response to the difficulties its Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja was experiencing regarding his academic credentials, Maina stated that the issue of candidates’ academic credentials must be handled equally.

“It is a very big question which needs to be looked at, not through the lens of just one candidate, but a wider public question,” she stated.

It’s worth noting that the former prime minister who is making his fifth stab at the presidency in the August 9, General Election has been on record saying he has a degree in mechanical engineering
