Lionel Messi has been presented with eight gold rings, one for each of his Ballon d’Or victories.
The 36-year-old Argentine diva won the prize for a record-breaking eighth time on Monday night, October 30th, at a star-studded ceremony in Paris.
Adidas presented the Inter Miami attacker with the 14-carat gold rings. Each ring represents one of Messi’s Ballon d’Or victories, and they will all be auctioned off.
Adidas posted a photo of Messi paying respect to NBA star Bill Russell.
In the shot, Messi is pictured with his hands between his face, wearing the eight rings, to mimic a classic photoshoot in 1996 by 11-time NBA champion Russell.
The Argentine, regarded as one of the best players of all time, edged off Man City’s Erling Haaland to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
