At a church in Kericho, thugs committed the unthinkable while the priests were sleeping.

Unknown criminals stormed into the pastoral residence of St Mark Catholic Parish in Litein and made off with an undisclosed quantity of money, according to Kericho County detectives.

The criminals also gained entry into the church and destroyed the tabernacle, a liturgical item used to host the Eucharist, shocking the priests who were deep sleeping in an adjacent room.

Unknown criminals stormed into their house on the night of May 31 and June 1st, while he and other priests were fast sleeping, according to Parish Priest Fr Moses Langat, who reported the incident to authorities at the Litein police station.

Since then, crime scene detectives have visited both places and forensically investigated them in order to apprehend the perpetrators.
