Yesterday, during the 19th National Prayer Breakfast meeting at the Safari Park Hotel, Chief Justice Martha Koome stunned the whole nation.
This comes after she made an unusual revelation that caught many people off guard.
Koome admitted to Kenyans that they had made mistakes in making choices that resulted in criminals being released from prison.
She also acknowledged that there had been delays in case administration and adjudication, for which she expressed regret.
As a result, she pleaded for forgiveness from Kenyans and stated that they are looking forward to God’s guidance in doing better in the future.
“We in the Judiciary stood at the threshold to ask forgiveness and offer confessions because we have failed to meet Kenyans’ expectations in terms of justice.”
“We admitted that we have delayed justice, that we have allowed murderers and other criminals off the hook, and we confessed all our flaws and begged God to walk with us,” Koome said as President Uhuru Kenyatta looked on in bewilderment.
Deputy President William Ruto and Raila Odinga’s running partner Martha Karua also attended the ceremony.
Ruto also used the occasion to apologize to Uhuru and Kenyans for failing to deliver on his promises.
