Former Chelsea player John Mikel Obi has described Eden Hazard as the “laziest footballer” he has ever played with.

Mikel and Hazard were teammates at Chelsea for five seasons, from 2012 until Mikel’s departure in 2016.

They won a Premier League title, the UEFA Europa League, and the FA Cup during their time at the club, culminating in a trophy-laden career.

Hazard joined Real Madrid in 2018, but his time there was a flop due to injuries and poor form.

He finally announced his retirement from football last month, claiming it was time to have a few more drinks.

Mikel detailed his training experience with the Belgian on the Obi One Podcast.

“He’s the laziest footballer I’ve ever seen in my life, but then he wins the man-of-the-match award and comes in and shows everyone.” “He’s like, come on guys, you see,” the ex-midfielder explained.

“He’s lost a little weight now, but when he was at Chelsea, the night before the game, after dinner, he’d sit for like twenty minutes, eating his rice pudding.” Obi said, “He enjoys his food.”

Obi emphasized that, despite Hazard’s flaws in training, his game performance was always top-notch.

“He then goes to bed, wakes up in the morning, arrives at the game by 3 p.m., and performs.” He isolates himself and does not fully participate in training. He just slaps around, but on weekends he comes up with the goodies.”
