Two years after departing Everton to lead Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti has brought a lawsuit against the club in the High Court.

‘General Commercial Contracts and Arrangements’ are the subject of the lawsuit, according to the Italian’s attorneys.

A hearing for the claim has been scheduled at the commercial court.

The details of the circumstances are not provided in the documents.

But according to information obtained by Mail Sport, Ancelotti and Everton are at odds over a tax matter related to a £2 million bonus payment made to the Italian coach during his tenure.

For Everton, who are in the throes of a potential sale amid well-documented financial woes, the development comes at the worst possible time.

Everton obtained a “substantial” loan last month to aid in financing the construction of their new Bramley Moore Dock Stadium.

After working for a year to secure money, Mail Sport reported that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri sealed a transaction through the Ormskirk-based venture capital firm Blythe Capital.
