Vice President Rigathi Gachagua has exposed a big scandal that occurred in August of last year, soon after President William Ruto was elected on August 9, 2022.
Gachagua made the stunning claim on Friday evening, when he met professionals from the Tetu Constituency in a Nairobi hotel, alleging top officials in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet looted Sh16 billion from the National Treasury before President William Ruto was sworn in.
According to the second in command, Sh10 billion was taken during the Presidential election petition, and another Sh 6 billion was carried away just two days before the August 9 general election.
“Two days before the elections, they stole Sh6 billion and purported to sell Telkom shares. When a matter was before the Supreme Court, they took another Sh10 billion to pay certain contractors,” Gachagua added.
“Money was being carried in cartons at Wilson Airport and flown in choppers to people’s homes. And now, unasikia wanaambiwa kuja andika statement kidogo, anaingia ndege anatoroka. And these criminals were calling other thieves thieves. “They tore this place apart…. They took everything,” Gachagua stated.
According to the DP, the current status of the country’s economy was caused by the prior government’s wanton plundering of public funds.
