Despite a military security operation, bandits carried out another audacious raid in Samburu North, Samburu County, killing four people, including two children.
This comes as President William Ruto and his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, are engaged in a battle in Nairobi with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
According to reports, the event occurred about 200 meters from a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) base.
Locals who talked to the press said the courageous criminals drove the animals to Moruakiring, which is thought to be their hideout.
Furthermore, the 300 officers at the KDF camp were chastised for failing to intervene in the situation and engage the criminals.
“We can’t live like this. Even when the government is conducting a security operation, four innocent individuals, including two children, have been killed. “Is there anything else we can say?” Marti resident Joseph Ekutan stated.
School-aged children are among those affected, as learning has yet to resume due to an uptick in banditry.
Locals further stated that the bandits chose the Malaso and Kur Kur valleys as their center of operations because they provide a distant view of the villages around the region and allow them to easily notice security officers from afar.
They urged Interior Ministry Secretary Kithure Kindiki to honor his pledge and clear the region of bandits.
“We are being killed in our own country. What else can we do? “This is becoming worse as the bandits evict us,” Boniface Lesuyai complained.
