Angry Kenyans criticized Deputy President William Ruto for trying to play them for fools after his stunt against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner, Raila Odinga, backfired terribly on him.
Ruto had attributed the rising cost of living to Uhuru and Raila.
A package of maize flour was selling for an all-time high price, the DP said, as he lamented the rising expense of life on his social media sites.
“A packet of unga is currently sold for more than Sh200, which is the historical price. That’s sad. Due to the lack of interventions like farm input subsidies, which may enable farmers to produce enough food and excess for trade, millions of Kenyans are burdened by the high cost of living.
He added that his Kenya Kwanza administration will deal with the issue and that those who were whining about the crisis were to blame.
“Those who complain about the crisis are to blame for it because they have the wrong priorities. This issue will be addressed by Kenya Kwanza through its Bottom-Up Economic Plan, according to Ruto.
However, many internet users were offended by his comments and promptly criticized the Deputy President for the rising expense of living.
Some internet users claim that Ruto was Kenya’s second in charge and that the country’s cost of living increased during his tenure.
They thought it was unfortunate that he was lamenting the high expense of living while serving in the second-highest position in the land.
Another section of netizens said that the DP was shedding crocodile tears and making fun of Kenyans as he was enjoying the taxpayer’s money and being a ghost worker.
