After one of her ‘family’ members was arrested for defrauding Mpesa agents, Narc Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua has finally released a statement.
Benson Thuranira, a Narc Kenya candidate in Meru County’s Muthara ward, was detained by investigators in Nakuru yesterday on suspicion of Mpesa fraud.
The Karua-led party recognized that Thuranira is their candidate in a statement, but stated that the law should be followed in apprehending the suspect.“The party would want to take this occasion to reaffirm its devotion to the rule of law and its highest expectations for all of our candidates in terms of ethical standards,” he said.Part of the statement signed by Karua, who is also the Azimio coalition’s presidential running partner, said, “Upon receipt of much more information on the case from the authority, the relevant party organ shall offer instructions.”Following a complaint of the theft of Sh64,000 from the agent, Benson Thuranira was one of three persons detained in a police operation.
