Standard Media Group was compelled to explain a report in one of its newspapers today that said Deputy President William Ruto had launched his weapon of mass reproduction and pregnant Susan Kihika, a senator from Nakuru.
The Nairobian, one of Standard Group’s magazines, said that Ruto and Kihika met at Ruto’s property in Narok County, where they slept together and Kihika became pregnant.
Standard Group, on the other hand, said the news is false and urged Kenyans to treat it with the disdain it deserves in a statement released Friday morning.
The page was also managed to promote political misinformation throughout the campaign season, according to the Gideon Moi-controlled media agency.
“FAKE NEWS ALERT: This is NOT a genuine Nairobian weekly newspaper cover. The home page has been tampered with. During this electioneering season, be wary of falling for political misinformation and deep fakes,” the guideline said.
