Flights at Hamburg Airport have been halted due to a ‘fear of aircraft assault

Flights were halted at Hamburg Airport in Germany on Monday morning, October 9, after an attack threat was made against a jet flying from the Iranian capital of Tehran.

According to Mail Online, German police descended on the plane after it safely arrived at the international airport in the country’s north and performed a search in response to a previous emailed threat.

The Iranian plane landed in Hamburg about 12.20pm, with 198 passengers and 16 staff members going through security. The aircraft and its cargo were also searched.

A representative for the terminal confirmed that take-offs and landings were halted around 12.40pm local time. Cops stated they were taking the threat seriously but had no further information.

Hamburg Airport personnel have since announced that aviation traffic at the airport has resumed.

The police operation takes place on the first day of a special meeting of the German and French governments in Hamburg, which is attended by both Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Emmanuel Macron.
