After Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League, player Kelechi Iheanacho has made his first public statement.
On the final day of the 2022–23 campaign, Leicester needed to win and for Everton to lose at home to AFC Bournemouth. However, Everton’s 1-0 victory left Leicester City two points behind in the relegation zone, despite City winning their own match 2-1.
The Club will now compete in the Sky Bet Championship next season after nine successful years in the top division, where they won the premier league in 2016.
Iheanacho, though, is confident that the club will rejoin the Premier League right away.
Iheanacho expressed his disappointment on LCFC TV. “I’m so disappointed,” he said.
“I am speechless. I am at a loss for words.
“I simply want to thank everyone at the Football Club, the supporters, and everyone who has helped us from the beginning to the present. If life hits you hard, you must get back up and keep moving forward. We’ll make an effort to press on and remain resilient in the hopes that we can recover.
The Nigerian international continued, “It’s a bad time for the Club and for everyone.” We are unable to turn around at this time. Forward motion is required. The fans were very incredible. Even at the conclusion, they continued to applaud and support us. Going down is challenging, so I simply want to express my gratitude for all of their help and support.
“They have always supported the Club. We’ll make every effort to rise again.
