The US government has turned to former President Uhuru Kenyatta for assistance in negotiating with Azimio Leader Raila Odinga to end his weekly protests, which are harming the country’s economy.

Raila refused Joe Biden’s request to end the protests and meet with President William Ruto.

According to sources, a US delegation led by Delaware Senator Chris Coons, a close confidant of Biden’s, has scheduled a meeting with the former President after Raila refused to change his stance on anti-government protests.

The US delegation was said to have expressed concerns about protests affecting the economy while meeting with Raila.

They maintained, however, that the opposition had the right to picket and demonstrate against the government.

During the meeting, Biden’s administration reportedly asked Baba to halt the protests as a gesture of goodwill.

Despite Azimio’s presentation of four non-negotiable issues, the former Prime Minister declined the calls.

The high cost of living, the opening of election servers, and the recruitment of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials were among the issues raised.

Azimio was also concerned that the international community remained silent despite the government repeatedly violating the constitution.

The opposition also warned the United States not to back a dictatorial government.

Coons, who orchestrated Raila and Uhuru’s handshake in 2018, met with Gachagua hours before his meeting with Raila.

Gachagua stated at the meeting that they would not negotiate Raila’s appointment to the government.
