It appears that US Vice President Joe Biden wants Kenyan President-elect William Ruto to collaborate with Raila Odinga, a worthy rival and Azimio Leader, and shake his hand.
The US Embassy in Kenya urged Ruto and his rivals in the recently held elections to cooperate for the benefit of the nation in a statement.
The US Government advised all parties to use the already-in-place dispute resolution processes to amicably settle any unresolved issues about the election.
“We commend the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the security forces, and other electoral institutions for their efforts to arrange a calm and orderly voting and counting process.
“The IEBC announced that William Ruto had won the presidential election under the direction of Chair Wafula Chebukati.
The Embassy declared that “this is a significant turning point in the electoral process.”
It also urged all political party leaders to keep pleading with their followers to practice nonviolence and remain nonviolent.
The US Embassy also praised Kenya’s political parties, residents, and civil society for their active involvement in fostering lively debates during the election season.
“Kenya and the United States have a close relationship. Together, we raise respect for human rights, boost regional peace and security, improve healthcare, and bolster our economies. The statement said, in part, “We look forward to advancing our collaboration with the people and government of Kenya.
