The problems facing Deputy President William Ruto have gotten worse since the administration of President Uhuru Kenyatta significantly reduced his budget in order to make a political point.

This was confirmed by Emmanuel Tallam, a representative for Ruto, who said that the office’s budget had once again been reduced.

Tallam added that employees of the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate were not receiving their salaries or the funds they needed to perform their official duties.

One and a half years ago, they stopped handing us money. We don’t know who is withholding funds from the DP office while the National Assembly has approved the budget and Treasury has started allocating funds. The DP has been conducting his political operations using private funds, according to Tallam.

He said that the DP’s use of state-owned helicopters and official cars assigned to him had been prohibited by budget cuts.

With only 53 days till the General Election on August 9, Ruto has resorted to using his personal vehicles and rented aircraft to finance his 2022 presidential campaigns.

Due to the bitter breakup with Uhuru, Ruto’s administration has seen budget reductions every year for the past four years.
