Deputy President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza supporters have received assurances from former prime minister Raila Odinga’s running mate, Martha Karua, that they won’t be singled out if Azimio forms the next administration.

Speaking in Nyahururu, Karua addressed allegations made by the Kenya Kwanza team that they were being singled out in the fight against corruption and promised to defend them from unfair trials if elected.

If Raila were to take office in August, Ruto and his friends wouldn’t suffer in the war against corruption, said Karua.

“Let them know that in the Azimio government, when I have been allocated the Justice and constitutional affairs, no one will be victimized, whether they are in government or in the opposition or my child.”

“To everybody, the same law will apply. All Kenyans’ rights, including those of the opposition, will be upheld if we win power because we are all brothers in politics, she continued.

However, she urged the Kenya Kwanza leaders to contemplate why their names consistently appear in connection with graft.

She further stated that the Azimio team would speak out against theft of public property, but in a dignified manner.

“Ask yourself why your name is constantly referenced before you start whining that you are being singled out. Out of respect for you, we are correcting you. If we are telling the truth, and you have made your living by stealing from the people, that is your past, she said.

Ruto and his colleagues were instructed by the Senior Counsel to resolutely confront the charges in court and take it upon themselves to establish their innocence and clear their names.

“There are courts where both you and the accuser can submit evidence and individuals who have been unfairly accused will be set free,” she continued. “If you are mentioned in graft.

For a long time, Ruto and his allies have claimed that national police services (NPS), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission (EACC) have been militarized by the administration.
