Moses Kuria, the cabinet secretary for trade, has threatened to take extreme measures against Nation Media Group (NMG) for publishing stories of massive corruption in President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking at the Akorino Annual Convention in Embu County, the obviously incensed Kuria urged the media outlet to take a position and specify whether it was acting as a watchdog or supporting Raila Odinga’s Azimio.

Kuria made a direct threat to stop the NMG-assigned government advertising.

He angrily cautioned all government representatives that, starting on Sunday, June 18, promoting advertisements on NMG platforms would not be tolerated.

He made it clear that any official who disobeyed this order would be fired right away.

“You need to decide if you are a newspaper, broadcasting house, media station, or an opposition party,” he admonished.

He said, “I have said that from tomorrow, if I find any government agency running advertisements on Nation Media, the person in charge would be dismissed.

Prior to Kuria’s altercation, Nation Media Group ran an investigative piece that detailed, among other major crimes in Ruto’s cabinet, the suspected theft of nearly Ksh6 billion in an oil fraud masterminded by CS Kuria and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.
