William Oduol, the deputy governor of Siaya County, stunned Kenyans by purchasing a chair for his office for Sh 1 million.
The Public Investment Committee for Siaya County claims that Oduol quickly ordered his office’s remodeling and the replacement of all the furniture after taking office.
His executive chair cost the tax payer a whopping Sh 1 million out of the total Sh 11 million spent on replacing the furnishings.
Given that he is the one accusing Governor James Orengo of corruption, the claims against Oduol have generated a great deal of controversy and raised questions about the misappropriation of public funds.
Oduol is awaiting the Senate’s decision after being impeached by the Siaya County Assembly last week.
Siaya county MCAs, who are close allies of former prime minister Raila Odinga, accused Oduol of serious misbehavior, corruption, and insulting Governor James Orengo when impeaching him.
