Former government spokesman Cyrus Oguna has revealed why he quit from President William Ruto’s administration five months before his term expired.
Oguna, who is now Chief of Staff to Siaya Governor James Orengo, indicated in an interview that the time had come for him to serve his community as a Siaya County employee, which is why he voluntarily resigned as government spokesman.
“The time had come for me to return home and serve my home county of Siaya.” “After serving on the national level for over 30 years, it is time for me to give back to the community,” he said.
Oguna insisted that he had not been sacked by the Kenya Kwanza Government and that no one had compelled him to leave as government spokesman before his contract expired in June 2023.
“My decision to resign as government spokesman was purely personal, and it should not be associated with politics.”
“I am working well with the county government, but if Governor Orengo resigns now, I will also resign because I know he is doing a good job as county boss,” he added.
During the interview, the retired military veteran expressed thanks for his long career, which includes stints as a Kenya defense forces spokesman and a government spokeswoman, among other posts.
