Leader of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance party and Githurai stopover on Friday, Raila Odinga, was greeted with a hero’s welcome in Kiambu County.
When Raila Odinga made the decision to pause in what is thought to be President William Ruto’s heartland, he was still operating his companies.
Githurai, which is regarded as the entryway to the Mt. Kenya region with a high voter turnout, chose to elect Ruto and his running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, as the last men standing.
Raila was shocked, though, when locals gave him a resounding welcome on Friday, saying they regretted electing Ruto and Gachagua because they were just interested in their own wealth and didn’t care about the situation of suffering Kenyans.
The locals were humming patriotic Kikuyu songs in honor of Raila Odinga, whom they referred to as “Jamba ya Ruriri.”
In his statement, Raila Odinga urged the audience to join his campaign against the Finance Bill 2023, arguing that it would put an additional burden on Kenyans who are already struggling to afford a good standard of living.
