Purity Mwambia, a former investigative reporter for Citizen TV, has disclosed that she is on the edge of homelessness in the USA, where she sought sanctuary after publishing that shocking exposé on the corruption in the National Police Service.
After conducting the Guns Galore exposé for Citizen Television in 2021, Purity left the country.
Her investigative reporting uncovered dishonest police officers who provided criminals with their guns, clothes, and handcuffs in exchange for a portion of the proceeds.
She was the focus of several government security organizations after the exposure, which resulted in the murder of her character by senior police officers.
She then ran away, only to turn up again in America on May 30, 2023.
Mwambia stated in her address during a panel discussion on Tuesday that she was given permission to enter the US in 2021 but afterwards left behind.
“As for me, I was taken here by a group, and they left me. I’m on the point of going without housing because they abandoned me, Mwambia stated.
“I see these homeless people every day as I pass by all of these metro buses. It’s a story that, as a journalist, I would have delighted to share, but now that I’m walking in their shoes metaphorically and unsure of what will happen to me, Mwambia continued.
She added that America showed greater support for exiled journalists by giving them resources other than money so they could pursue stories without restriction or interference wherever they took place.
