According to Lamu Governor Issa Timamy’s comment, it looks that Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC is also against President William Ruto’s proposal to withhold 3% of all government employees’ salaries to support his housing project.
Timamy, who is also the acting ANC Party Leader, made an appeal to Ruto yesterday, pleading with him to think about making the housing fund fee optional rather than imposing it on low-income hustlers.
He claimed that allowing people to make contributions to the fund will ease the financial burden on those with low incomes.
He pointed out that such a move would enable people to choose their own financial priorities.
“In my opinion, it shouldn’t be required. Even as the discussion over the housing levy continues, the governor stated, “Kuna watu wengine tayari wamejizatiti wakajenga nyumba zao, kwa hivyo kwa sasa hawana haja ila kwa wale wanaotaka ili wai wafaidike.”
