A 42-year-old businessman died on Wednesday after being shot in broad daylight by armed thugs in Kibra, Nairobi.
Oscar Ngugi, the deceased, was approached outside his shop in Mashimoni by two thugs.
The thugs demanded that he hand over the cash he was carrying.
They got into a fight and shot him at close range as a result.
“The man was on his way to the market when he was approached by the thugs. “They started talking in a local dialect before ordering him to hand over the money,” a witness said.
Before fleeing, they stole Sh12, 000 from him.
As they fled, the thugs allegedly fired into the air to disperse the crowd.
The businessman’s brother rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Despite the fact that the incident occurred near a police station, police arrived at the scene minutes later.
