After years of rejection from women owing to his height, Kwoyela Derick, a 39-year-old teacher in Bamenda, Cameroon, has finally found a life mate.
In January 2022, Derick, also known as DK, who is from Bali Nyonga in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, began dating Kahboh Patience, 28.
The teacher told MMI that he adores Patience and would like her to be the mother of his children.
“I was drawn to her character. She is ideal because she treats me with the utmost respect and also believes in God, he stated.
Their society is quite “intolerant” of individuals like Derick. He confided in MMI that most people would not want to be friends with him, much less get married to him.
The opposition to his connection with Kahboh Patience has reached multiple turning points.
“When we were trying to get married, that was one of our biggest challenges. Her acquaintances and some family members were upset and questioned why she was marrying a short man like me, according to Derick.
Both of them have remained in love and are now planning their wedding despite stereotypes.
“I’ve pledged to look after my wife well. I want our tale to serve as an example for everyone, especially those who have given up on love. For each of us, there is a chance and a special someone.
The white wedding ceremony will be held on April 8 in Bamenda, while their traditional wedding has been scheduled for April 6, 2023, in Bali Nyonga.
Patience, a seamstress by trade, stated that she is prepared to support her man “for better and for worse.”
