After bombing a shop in his hometown of Rosario, Argentina, in the early hours of Thursday, March 2, unidentified gunmen left a threatening message for football star Lionel Messi.

According to reports from Argentina, 14 shots were fired at the doors of the food store “Unico” in Rosario before two suspects left on a motorcycle.

The shop is owned by Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who grew up in Rosario.

The incident, which caused severe damage to the establishment, left no one harmed.

But, a piece of cardboard with the words “Messi, we are waiting for you” was left at the scene. Javkin is a drug trafficker. He is not going to take care of you.”

Rosario’s mayor is Pablo Javkin.

Following the incident on Thursday, Javkin demanded that additional resources be allocated to Rosario to help safeguard and support its citizens.

“Rosario is only 300 kilometers [from Buenos Aires] away. We want to use all of Argentina’s anti-crime capabilities to safeguard this city that provides the country grandeur and science, countryside and art, federalism and union.”

Messi and his wife were both in Paris at the time of the event. As of press time, none of them had reacted on the attack.

On Monday, the 35-year-old was crowned The Best FIFA Men’s Player at an awards ceremony in Paris.

He led Argentina to their third World Cup triumph in 2022, defeating France in the final.
