A Nairobi court was surprised when Babu Owino, a member of parliament for Embakasi East, revealed how much money he had spent to ensure DJ Evolve, also known as Felix Orinda, fully recovered.
Babu shot the DJ at B Club Nairobi in 2020 and has been accused with using a handgun improperly.
Babu said in court during his defense that he has been caring for the DJ, who is still bedridden, since the incident.

“As a leader, I took over Felix Orinda’s life-saving idea and initiatives. And that wouldn’t fit the profile of someone who wanted to hurt,” Owino told the judge.
Owino warned Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that Evolve would have perished if he had not taken the initiative.
The sum of all the costs reached Sh23 million when DJ Evolve was in the ICU. He was unable to move and was immovable. I spent roughly Sh17 million for a Kilimani condominium and paid Sh300,000 a month for two nurses, two physiotherapists, and one occupational therapist.
“I have spent Sh11.1 million, and the contract has been in effect for 37 months. I am in charge of his maintenance, which costs Sh70,000 a month for food and bills. For 37 months, the cost of medicine is Sh5.5 million, or Sh80,000 each month.
“His latest procedure, which cost Sh2 million and enabled him to speak, was performed in Nairobi. I have already invested Sh58.6 million in Evolve.
He claimed he had intentions to help him establish a DJ school, buy a car, and fly him to India for specialist care.
