President William Ruto has vowed that no shilling will be stolen by shady government officials again.
This comes after senior government officials were implicated in the Sh3.7 billion mosquito net scandal at KEMSA, which resulted in Ruto dismissing Health PS Dr. Josephine Mburu and the whole board and replacing them.
Ruto declared Wednesday, during the funeral of Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie’s father David Waweru in Murang’a County, that he will assume full responsibility for the accountability of Kenyans’ resources in the future.
He stated that he will utilize his authority as President to deal with anyone who attempts to steal public funds.
“I won’t say much, but I will take personal responsibility for the accountability of Kenyans’ resources.” Nobody will take the money Kenyans have paid in taxes, and if they do, they will be met by me because I have no other work.”
“I will use the sword that was given to me when I came to power to deal with people who want to steal money from Kenyans,” Ruto stated.
The President further stated that he has warned everyone, especially close friends, that money meant for Kenyans will not be taken.
“I have already told everyone, including my friends and those who aren’t, that Kenyans’ money will not be stolen,” Ruto continued.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his two sons are suspected of masterminding the KEMSA scam.
