Russia warns the UK over plans to give Ukraine munitions loaded with uranium that “there are fewer steps to a nuclear collision”

Following the British government’s announcement that it would be sending depleted uranium (DU) ammunition to Ukraine, Moscow warned the UK.

On Tuesday, March 22, UK Defense Secretary Baroness Goldie stated that armour-piercing rounds containing DU are being transported from Britain to Ukraine in Challenger 2 combat tanks.

Along with giving Ukraine a squadron of Challenger 2 main combat tanks, we will also supply depleted uranium-tipped armour-piercing rounds as ammunition.

Such rounds are very effective in taking down contemporary tanks and armored cars.

American and British soldiers employed DU munitions in Iraq in 1991 and 2003, as well as in the Balkans in the 1990s.

Particularly when someone is close to bomb impact areas, where dust can enter people’s lungs and important organs, it creates a health concern and can result in cancer.

Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s minister of defense, predicted that the UK’s action would result in a Russian reprisal.

“Another step has been taken, and there are fewer and fewer left,” Shoigu told reporters.

Naturally, Russia is able to respond to this.

When asked by a reporter if this meant that a nuclear war was imminent, Shoigu responded, “I did not tell you about steps by accident. There are getting less and less.

In response to Russia’s warning, the UK, one of Ukraine’s biggest aid donors, has taken action.

According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, the British Army has been using depleted uranium in its armor-piercing shells for decades. There is no connection between it and nuclear weapons or capabilities; it is a normal component.

Russia is purposefully trying to misinform, despite knowing this.
