At the age of 41, legendary footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rejoined the Sweden National team.
The attacker recently made his AC Milan debut after missing 11 months due to a major knee injury. After almost five years away, in March 2021, he rejoined the Sweden team after declaring his retirement following the 2016 Euros.
After missing Euro 2020 due to injury, he returned after another year away and was unable to assist his team in winning the World Cup the previous year. He is destined to participate in Sweden’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches later this month against Belgium and Azerbaijan.
Manager Janne Andersson said Ibrahimovic “feels ready” to contribute to the team when explaining the forward’s return.
Even though he has been sidelined for some time, Zlatan has made three significantly longer outings for Milan and feels ready and in good shape, according to Andersson.
Hence, I believe he can add something from that perspective. primarily outside, but also on the field.
After surgery at the tail end of the previous season, Ibrahimovic has only made three appearances for Milan this year, totaling 68 minutes of playing time.
In March 2022, he made his final appearance for Sweden against Poland in their World Cup qualifying play-off, coming on as a substitute for 11 minutes.
Soon after, he sustained the injury, and for the majority of the season, he has been recovering.
On February 26, the Swede made his Milan comeback off the bench against Atalanta. Since then, he has played against Fiorentina and Salernitana.
