After being sued by former president Mwai Kibaki’s daughter Judith Kibaki for Sh3.1 million in rent arrears, city gold fraudster Kevin Obia will soon be put up for auction.
Principal magistrate B.M. Cheloti of Milimani withdrew a provisional injunction issued to Obia on March 20 that had stopped the recovery process.
This came about after Judith brought up the fact that Obia had secured the injunction without fully providing all information to the court.
She contacted Wiskam Auctioneers once the injunction was lifted, and they announced that they had retrieved household items from Obia’s home.
The date for the auction is May 24.
Two double-door refrigerators, an electric burner oven, eight dining chairs, a five-seater sofa set, a vacuum cleaner, mattresses and beddings, flower pots, and other valuables were taken from the home on Chalbi Drive by Lavington.
According to court documents, the two agreed to a two-year lease with a monthly rent of Sh350,000.
The first of each month is when the rent is due.
“Since occupying the suit premises, the applicant has consistently defaulted on payment of the monthly rent,” Judith informed the court.
He owes Sh2.78 million in back rent as of January 31 and paid Sh996,000 on February 28.
This happened when he received a demand letter in the mail.
Obia is a gold fraudster with a number of court cases.
