The Azimio Leader Raila has been challenged by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to begin his weekly demonstrations against the contentious Finance Bill 2023, claiming that his followers are accustomed to his typical empty threats.

Gachagua criticized Raila for opposing the bill that is good for the nation in his remarks yesterday during the groundbreaking of the Menengai Geothermal project in Nakuru County.

Gachagua claims that because the Finance Bill aims to boost the economy and create jobs for Kenyans, those who oppose it are enemies of the Kenyan people.

Therefore, he challenged Azimio to resume protests by asserting that the Kenya Kwanza government would still be in operation.

They are making noise and expressing a desire to return to the streets. The demonstrations on the streets can continue, and when they are through, they can go while we carry on with our business.

His comments follow Raila’s threat to return to the ballot box if the Finance Bill is approved by the National Assembly.

“We have observed that the regime has turned to threats as a last option because it has run out of soundbites and justifications for its proposals in the Finance Bill 2023. If Ruto were to take control of the National Assembly, Raila vowed, “We will regroup and defeat him in the larger National Assembly of the entire people of Kenya.

In addition, the former premier urged President Ruto to apologize to Kenyans and remove the bill.

In order to start over, he continued, “We ask Ruto to humble himself, withdraw this bill, offer an apology, and seek Kenyans’ forgiveness for the anxiety caused.”
