Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has come under harsh criticism from Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for opposing Finance Bill 2023.
The sole MP from Mount Kenya who is sober and opposed to the divisive measure that aims to overtax Kenyans is Wamuchomba, who was elected on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party banner.
Gachagua boasted that all MPs from Mount Kenya support the measure, and that just one person is creating noise in reference to Wamuchomba, while speaking at a burial in Nyeri on Thursday.
“Wetu wote wako sawa, wabunge. Ni mmoja tu anapiga kelele na it’s okay unajua sisi ni watu wa demokrasia na katika hapa mlima ni mia kwa mia. 100% of the time, Unajua hii mashindano si mzuri ikuwe.”
The measure, according to Gachagua, will completely change the nation’s economy. “We can have mtu mmoja hapa Mt Kenya aseme no ndio tuonyeshe iko demokrasia,” he said.
