Prior to his decision to join Inter Miami, Lionel Messi reportedly ‘had private aircraft ready in Paris’ to carry him back to Riyadh from the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

After much speculation regarding his future, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner revealed that he would be traveling to play for David Beckham’s Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, rejecting a massive £2 billion move to Saudi Arabia and a return to his previous club Barcelona.

In order to transport Messi and his father Jorge to Riyadh, Al-Hilal reportedly “had private jets waiting in Paris for Messi and in Barcelona for his father Jorge.”

Karim Benzema, a striker for Real Madrid, signed a massive £258 million contract this week to join Al-Ittihad and play in the Saudi Pro League. The 35-year-old will play for Al-Ittihad for three seasons and earn a staggering £86 million every season.

N’Golo Kante, a fellow countryman and World Cup champion, will also join him after completing a medical in London today in preparation for a transfer to Al-Ittihad.

The Chelsea midfielder is expected to sign a two-year, £172 million deal with the team.
