Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, has done the unthinkable.
This comes after he decided that Shakahola Forest in Kilifi County, where controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie’s followers were buried, will be transformed into a national memorial place.
Kindiki noted in a statement that the goal of converting it into a national memorial site is for Kenyans and the rest of the world to remember what happened at Shakahola.
“Shakahola forest, the crime scene where these heinous crimes were committed, cannot be left alone.” “The government plans to turn it into a national memorial, a place of remembrance, so that Kenyans and the rest of the world do not forget what happened here,” Kindiki said.
Not only that, but Kindiki indicated that after the body exhumation process is completed, the government would organize a commemorative service at Shakahola.
“Once this exercise is completed,” he said, “we will call a congregation of all believers from all faiths and our national leadership for a commemoration service to secure the sacred right and freedom of worship that has been violated by crooks hiding behind scriptures.”
