Following Azimio’s threat to separate from Kenya and build their own country in response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s regrettable statements, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has broken its deafening silence.
In a statement issued yesterday, NCIC expressed grave concern about Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja coalition’s threats to agitate for secession.
As a result, NCIC demanded that Raila and his Azimio allies follow the 2010 constitution, which mandates that Kenyans should live in peace as one indivisible sovereign state.
“It is important to remember that the Kenyan Constitution of 2010 states that we, the people of Kenya, are PROUD of our ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity and are determined to live in peace and unity as one indivisible sovereign nation.” “We expect all leaders to be committed to and follow through on this constitutional provision,” the statement said in part.
The commission advised disgruntled opposition leaders to seek discussion to address their grievances.
“As much as they feel aggrieved, we urge our leaders to seek dialogue and a peaceful and cohesive way to address their concerns,” NCIC concluded.
Raila Odinga threatened to write to the United Nations (UN) on Friday, May 26, to request self-determination.
Raila has given President William Ruto a seven-day deadline to condemn Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s claims that the Kenya Kwanza government is a shareholder corporation, or they will secede.
