Seth Panyako, a former vice chairman of the UDA, might have regretted his disagreement with President William Ruto and attempts to thwart his ambitions.

After leaving UDA, pressure mounted for him to step down from his role as Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN).

Nurse and Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority Board director Alfred Obengo criticized Panyako for exploiting his position in the nurses’ union to negotiate for power in government during an interview.

He bemoaned the fact that Panyako was in charge of a briefcase union when nurses were defecting from it.

“Goodbye, dude! It’s time to go! We are sick of him.

He has served as the union’s SG without being elected for years. The former president of the National Nurses Association of Kenya, Obengo, bemoaned the fact that he had utilized that union to pursue his own interests.

Obengo added that Panyako ought to cease advancing his political goals by utilizing the nurses’ union.

“Panyako has become a complete disgrace to our industry. He didn’t talk to us before travelling to Ruto. He has returned now that the transaction has failed.

“Nurses are leaving that union in large numbers. They are fed up with his bluster and showmanship,” Obengo continued.

After opposing the 3% housing charge included in the Finance Bill 2023, Panyako resigned from his position as UDA Vice Chair on May 27.
