Former UDA Vice Chairman Seth Panyako has spilled the beans on President William Ruto’s threatening phone conversation, which purportedly led to the resignation of the LAPFUND chairperson.

During an interview, the Secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) stated that Ruto compelled the 11-member board and its chairman to choose an acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He said that a cartel of six Kalenjin men is surrounding the president and micromanaging government selections.

“We appointed an acting CEO on Thursday (May 25), but the cartels surrounding the president forced the board to overturn that appointment a day later, on the day of the AGM.”

“In fact, the chairman received threats and, eventually, a phone call from the president himself.” He was quite cruel. I was present when the phone call was made. “I saw messages from those cartels as well as from the president,” Panyako said.

On May 25, Lapfund’s CEO resigned after being recommended as the managing trustee of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) following interviews.

This meant that Lapfund needed to choose an interim CEO before their Annual General Meeting on Friday, May 26.

Panyako reported that the board appointed Galm Jaldesa as acting CEO. As it turned out, this irritated some people.

“We overturned that decision, but I objected.” Immediately after that, the chairman was plainly threatened.”

“So he said, ‘I can’t hold on any longer.'” “Amin Deddy (the chairman) resigned,” Panyako explained.

Panyako voiced concern that Lapfund’s board of directors would be unable to convene due to a lack of a CEO and chairperson.
